Luxury French Farmhouse situated in the picturesque Suisse Normande

This delightfully spacious 200-year-old detached farmhouse has been tastefully renovated, retaining many original features such as oak beams, feeding troughs, granite fireplace and tiled floors.

Recently acquired by two English couples, Carcanet Farmhouse offers a relaxing and stress free holiday home in a tranquil country setting.

There are 4 acres of private grounds to explore with direct access to the local forests for rambling and nature walks.

The property is well located as a convenient base for exploring all that Northern France has to offer and is within 30 minutes of Caen and 40 minutes of the Normandy beaches.

Accommodation

The original farmhouse has been progressively extended to create a substantial individual property, which has been decorated and furnished to a high standard in the local style with plenty of room for large groups to relax.

Downstairs there is a kitchen with direct access to the dining room, a utility room, a sitting room, a library/music room, a large conservatory, a double bedroom, a family bathroom with a shower cubicle and an oval bath, a separate toilet and a storage room.

Upstairs are 2 further double bedrooms, a twin bedded room, a games room, a T.V. lounge, a bathroom with an over-shower and a separate shower room and toilet.

The house is fully central heated making it comfortable for visits in colder periods and the first floor can be accessed by two separate staircases.

The Grounds

Although this is a very peaceful area, privacy is provided by external fencing and, at the end of the driveway, the wrought iron gates have a phone connection to the house for visitors along with security lighting. There is parking in the grounds for at least 4 cars along with covered storage in the outbuildings and stable block.

The extensive enclosed gardens at the front have been beautifully landscaped and include mature trees and bushes, lawns and flowerbeds, along with decorative garden features.

There is a large bricked patio area directly in front of the farmhouse with a built-in stone barbeque for “al fresco” dining and a selection of garden furniture is provided including tables, chairs, loungers and parasols. The house and gardens have external lighting throughout which makes it particularly attractive for sitting outside on warm evenings.

At the rear of the house is a large comfortable conservatory, which exits to a decked veranda and a sunken lawn area, ideal for sunbathing and racket or ball games.

All prices are per week

Change over is on Saturdays and guests are asked to vacate by 10 am with access between 4 pm and 7 pm unless by prior arrangement.

These rates are for up to 8 guests and include electricity and heating costs other than in winter.

All bed linen, duvets and covers and towels can be provided at a cost of £50 per week.

Heating and logs cost from October to the end of March is E50/week payable locally.

Premium for more than 8 guests: £25 to £50 per person per week depending on season.
